A
typical candidate for STEPS may be relatively early in recovery,
just out of detox or treatment, living in challenging, temporary
circumstances and/or unemployed with poor prospects. Due to the
mental and physical damage done by living a life of drug and
alcohol abuse, some candidates may not be fully employable.
At
STEPS, we help our clients by providing programs and services
with a focus on permanent recovery, 12 step meetings, employment
training, life skills training, work opportunities, and
achieving a self-sustaining and sober lifestyle.
Many of
our candidates are referred by local social service agencies,
such as detox centres or welfare offices. We also obtain
referrals through 12-step groups or word of mouth from the
recovery community.
